Domaine Denis Mortet is one of the most highly regarded estates in Gevrey‑Chambertin, celebrated for wines of depth, precision, and exceptional aging potential. The family story began in 1956, when Charles Mortet founded the estate with just one hectare of vines, selling most of the production to merchant houses in keeping with Burgundian tradition at the time.
In 1978, his son Denis Mortet, then 22 years old, joined the domaine alongside his wife Laurence, aged 20. Gradually, Denis developed bottled wine sales and succeeded his father in 1993, officially creating Domaine Denis Mortet. At that time, the estate covered approximately 4.5 hectares across Gevrey‑Chambertin, Chambolle‑Musigny, and Vougeot.
A major milestone followed in 1999 with the acquisition of vines in Chambertin Grand Cru, firmly establishing the domaine’s reputation. Today, the estate spans 11.2 hectares. Since 2005, Arnaud Mortet, along with his sister Clémence, has led the estate alongside their mother, Laurence, continuing a legacy of meticulous viticulture and refined, expressive winemaking.
