Alex Moreau represents a new generation of talented Burgundian vignerons, carrying forward a family legacy deeply rooted in Chassagne‑Montrachet. The domaine’s history dates back to 1809, when Auguste Moreau built the first cellar. Much of today’s vineyard holding—14 hectares, with nine owned and five farmed—was assembled by Marcel Moreau in the 1930s, laying the foundation of the estate as it is known today.

In the early 1960s, Bernard Moreau, father of Alexandre and Benoît, took over the vineyards and cellar at just 14 years of age. By the 1970s, he had firmly established the domaine’s reputation for quality and precision in the Côte d’Or.

Today, Alex Moreau ushers in a new chapter for the family estate. With formal training in viticulture and oenology, complemented by experience gained in wine regions around the world, he brings a precise and contemporary vision to his work. Now operating under the name Alex Moreau, the domaine is guided by a philosophy rooted in meticulous vineyard care, restrained cellar practices, and a clear expression of terroir—resulting in wines of purity, energy, and elegance, built for both immediacy and aging.
